Your Privacy
Your privacy is very important and you can be confident that your personal information will be kept safe and secure and will only be used for the purposes outlined in this statement. Katrina Chaplin adheres to prevailing data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (EU/2016/679) (the GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Initial Contact
When you make an enquiry through the website or by telephone, some information will be collected for the purpose of satisfying your enquiry including your name, postal and email addresses and telephone number. This information will be stored securely and the lawful basis for holding this information will be legitimate interest. If you decide not to proceed with therapy, your personal details will be deleted six weeks after your last contact.
During Therapy
If you proceed with therapy, your personal details (which may also include but are not limited to date of birth, age, GP details and relevant medical history) will be kept securely. The lawful basis for holding this information will be performance of our contract. Brief notes may sometimes be taken after therapy sessions to track progress. This information may include sensitive personal information known as "special category personal information." This will be kept securely, separate from your personal details with only your initials as an identifier. The lawful basis for holding and processing this information is that it is for provision of health treatment (counselling or psychotherapy) and necessary for a contract with a health professional. No personal information will be shared by a third party without your prior consent, unless your therapist is compelled to by law, or if your therapist has serious concerns around risk to yourself or others, in line with the terms of your therapy agreement.
After Therapy
Once therapy has ended your records will be kept for 6 years from the end of our agreement, in line with best practice outlined by BACP. Your records will then be securely destroyed.
Your Rights
You have the legal right to request a copy of information held about you. You may ask for the correction or removal of information you think is inaccurate.
